Children Without Shoes International (CWSI) seeks to change life circumstances for children living in remote villages in northern Nicaragua. We do this by supplying shoes and school uniforms to 400 children once a year.
We are people like you who care about others in remote areas where basic human needs are not met. These places have no plumbing, no telephones, and no electricity. Children die from intestinal worms, malaria, tonsillitis, and infections. Rivers and lakes, once a source of clean water, are now poisoned by pollution. CWSI coordinates efforts with other non-profit organizations and churches to bring change.
A pair of shoes may not seem like a big deal, but to the children and parents living in Nicaragua, they can mean an education.
The families we help cannot afford the proper shoes and uniforms mandated by school dress codes. By providing these basic items, CWSI is breaking the cycle of poverty and giving these children a chance for a better future.
Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, with vast numbers of people struggling at the subsistence level. CWSI is dedicated to providing children there with adult and police protection, shoes, and school uniforms. CWSI is affiliated with American Nicaraguan Foundation (ANF) and our Nicaraguan sister organization, Niños y Niñas del Futuro (NNF).
